Welcome to the Health Poverty Index (HPI) visualisation
tool
Welcome to the HPI visualisation tool, a collaboration between
the Department of Geography and Geosciences, University of St Andrews,
the South East Public Health Observatory (SEPHO), the University
of Oxford, and Oxford Consultants for Social Inclusion (OCSI),
which is sponsored by The Information Centre for health and social
care and previously by the Department of Health.
Use the links on the left to navigate round the site. Please look
at the Demo page for
information on how to use the site, the Indicators page for
information on the datasets, and the Background page for
information on the project. Go to the HPI Tool page to
begin using the tool by choosing areas for which you wish to view
information. Once you have selected your areas you can view the
data in a variety of formats.
We have currently finished Stages 1-3 of the HPI development.
Recently, we updated all the indicators to add ethnic group estimates
for 2001 and total population data for 2003. We would welcome feedback on
the content and functionality from potential users.
Please note: with the additional data added, absolute positions
of an LA in the scaled or ranked data may have changed. Relative
positions, within year groups, have not changed. Many of the indicators
for the 2001 ethnic groups are constructed using estimation techniques,
and may be reviewed. Therefore, caution should be exercised.
