Selecting The HPI Tool navigation link on the left will bring up the groups page (once data has been selected, this page is also reached from the Select groups navigation link). Once you have selected the groups you are interested in, click on View HPI Data to see the groups compared.
An alternative to comparing the main group to a specified area, is to see how the main group compares with one of the three types of ONS classification areas (supergroup, group or subgroup) to which it is been allocated (see the Background page for further details of the classification areas). These represent similar areas. It therefore possible to see how much an area deviates in particular aspects of health poverty from similar across England. Select your main group, and for the comparison group select, for example, ‘Compare with ONS supergroup’. The classification areas are also included as possibilities for the main and comparison group areas, so you can explicitly compare between them e.g. comparing between an average coastal area and an average manufacturing centre. In the next stage of the project, it will also be possible to compare between different age, ethnic and gender groups within a population; to specify smaller geographical sub areas; and to see how the different population groups change across time periods. Once you have selected your groups of interest you can choose to view the information in either scaled or ranked format. Clicking on View HPI Data will then bring up the data in spider-chart format. The navigation links on the left show the other formats in which the data is available. |
